Currently Blooming: LOTS!

The yard is in full, mid-summer bloom, despite the weird weather we've had this year.

These from a hanging basket I got from the boys for Mother's Day (love these!):

I wish our yard looked as pretty as these shapshots might make it seem. It's actually a little grown over and messy, but I'm not complaining. I'll be sure to come back to these photos for a little encouragement this winter when everything is brown (or white!).

Summer Recipe Series: Aunt Tina's Ice Cream Cake

IMG_3121 IMG_3119

Christina taught me how to make this cake when they were here for Memorial Day and I've made it at least twice since then. It is SOOO good and SOOO easy. Here are the instructions, per Aunt Tina:

Ingredients

One box of ice cream sandwiches (12 in a box, I think)

One jar of butterscotch carmel sundae topping

One large tub of Cool Whip, thawed

One bag of Heath Bar bits (baking aisle by chocolate chips)

Instructions

Layer ice cream sandwiches in the bottom of a 9x13 pan (may need to cut some to fit the edges, etc.). Pour butterscotch carmel topping over the sandwiches and spread to coat. Top with entire tub of Cool Whip. Smooth the Cool Whip and then top with the bag of Heath bits. Freeze until firm, slice and serve!

It is seriously so good and such a yummy summer treat (if it ever warms up again!). Thanks for sharing this recipe, Christina!
